The Rangeland story

From County Monaghan to the professional kitchen.

Rangeland began making burgers in County Monaghan in 1982. Based in Castleblayney, the family-owned and family-operated business has spent more than four decades developing its speciality: beef burgers for the people who cook for a living.

That focus runs through its range. A pub creating a signature burger and a hotel preparing for a busy service have different needs. Rangeland develops recipes and formats around those differences, with butcher-style and pre-flamed burgers among its foodservice specialities.

At Green Acres, we bring that choice to your menu through three frozen burgers: the 180 g Butcher Burger and two Flame Grilled Steakburgers. Each offers a different starting point for the dish you want to serve.

Choose the Butcher Burger for a simple beef, salt and pepper recipe, or a flame-grilled steakburger for convenient oven preparation.

What sits behind the burger

Irish beef. Specialist knowledge. A practical approach.

The starting point: Irish beef.

Rangeland describes its sourcing as locally sourced Irish beef. Bord Bia’s supplier profile identifies fresh whole-muscle cuts, including forequarter and flank, as the basis of its foodservice burgers. The producer also describes a traceability system that can follow each beef cut back to the farm.

For a chef, that gives the burger a clear origin to talk about. In our Butcher Burger, the recipe is particularly straightforward: 99% Irish beef, seasoned with salt and pepper. There is room for your own cheese, relish or sauce to define the finished dish.

Burgers developed around the way you cook.

Rangeland’s expertise covers more than portion size. Its wider range includes tender-formed and minimally processed burgers alongside pre-flamed options, reflecting the different textures and preparation methods that professional kitchens look for.

That distinction is useful when choosing from our range. The Butcher Burger provides a substantial 180 g centrepiece for a house burger. The Flame Grilled Steakburgers offer oven preparation in two sizes: 113 g for a classic portion, or 170 g for a larger burger plate. Choose around your menu, equipment and service, then follow the instructions for that product.

Innovation with a track record.

Rangeland’s Superchilled Gourmet Butchers Burger was recognised in the Anuga taste innovation showcase in 2017, a milestone in the development of its gourmet range. For a company focused on professional kitchens, it is a reminder that there is still room to develop and refine even a familiar menu favourite.

Beyond the kitchen

Keeping a connection to the community.

Bord Bia awarded Rangeland Origin Green Gold Membership in 2024. Its case study documents the company’s support for local Gaelic games clubs and charities, including burgers for club events, as well as a school horticulture project. These are concrete examples of the family business’s involvement in the community around it.

Make it your own

Start with the beef. Add your signature.

Pair the Butcher Burger with mature cheddar and relish for a classic house burger. Try caramelised onions and mustard, or build a combination around your own sauce. The 180 g portion gives the burger a generous presence on the plate.
